One Hundred and Twelve is a postdramatic devised performance created by MA Collaborative Performance Making 2025/2026 cohort through an experiment that collides 112 sentences from 16 news articles. The piece explores the global flow of information, the very nature of news and recency, and the dissonance of messages surrounding the environment, technology, global conflicts, and society.
For One Hundred and Twelve, I designed and sculpted clay models that were transformed into masks using thermoplastic and papier-mâché. The designs were inspired by primal animals, the finished masks glowed under UV light.
I was a part of the video projection team. Together, we designed and edited the projected video and set up the projector and screen, using it to introduce a digital dimension to the performance and expand its storytelling into the digital world that is so deeply integrated into modern life.
I also designed the costume, hair, and make-up for one of the characters, adapting the design to the needs of the project, sourcing the necessary materials and garments, and sewing the character’s accessories. The costumes shared a unifying visual style while drawing inspiration from the individual news articles.
